OUR WHY

So children and adults exposed to the violence and destruction of war know that people care and help is available.

OUR WHAT

Together, we restore and renew hope in the lives of children and adults affected by the war in Ukraine to transform the present and future of a nation.

OUR HOW

Children process emotional pain and trauma differently than adults. Through the power of art, music, and play, children find healing and recover from the wounds of war.

Our Hope Groups provide relief and healing for adults who have experienced the violence of war.

Through sharing their stories, they build a safe and supportive atmosphere that inspires and restores hope for the present and future.

When war damages or destroys homes, leaving people unable to repair or rebuild, where can they turn for help?

Through your generous contributions, we provide free repairs to families in need, restoring security, stability, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

HELP FOR Internally Displaced People

“Mike, we need help! There are rockets, artillery, and missiles falling upon our city! We have three cars full of families needing a safe place to go. Can you help us?”

That was the phone call I received early the morning of February 24th from my friend, Victor. They arrived at our shelter after a dangerous 36 hour journey.

NHUKR was birthed that day. We formed a team and transformed our basement office space for the church into a refugee shelter.

We had 24 beds, installed a shower, expanded our kitchen, and put the word out on social media that terrified families have a safe, warm, and welcoming place to come.

Three months later, the result of our work was:

600+ internally displaced people helped and 5600 meals served

HUMANITARIAN AID

Not everyone in Eastern and Southern Ukraine left their homes.

Many remained: older adults and families who could not escape.

Very soon, grocery store shelves emptied, and resupply became dangerous and impossible.

NHUKR began partnering with volunteers who drove vans full of food and supplies to villages on the front lines of the war.

38 tons of food supplied, 14760 people assisted

REBUILDING HOMES

— These teddy bears are for you. You can take them with you when you go back home.
We don’t have a home anymore; they bombed it.
I’m so sorry, well you can take them with you to your new home.
No, when it’s safe, we will go back and rebuild our home.
This was the conversation between our volunteer, Nastia, and twin sisters, Daria and Lisa, who stayed in our shelter with their mother.

Inspiration often arrives unexpectedly; such was the case when we witnessed the unwavering resolve of Daria and Lisa.

Their determination inspired us to seek out villages where homes had been damaged or destroyed, offering our assistance in rebuilding and restoring the lives of those affected.
